How the figures work, where they come from, and how to report a mistake.
Where the data comes from. Department for Education: key stage 2 (Year 6 SATs) results for 2024/25 and the three-year average for 2023 to 2025 (revised, published April 2026; 2026 school results are due in December), the January 2026 school census and class sizes, special educational needs 2026, pupil absence (autumn and spring terms 2025/26), suspensions and exclusions 2024/25, the November 2025 school workforce census, and 2024/25 school and academy accounts. Ofsted: inspection outcomes as at 30 September 2026. Gloucestershire County Council: Reception and junior 2026 allocation day statistics (16 April 2026). All published under the Open Government Licence.
SATs compared with similar schools compares each school's three-year share of pupils reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths with what schools with a similar share of disadvantaged pupils achieve across England (14,264 schools). Small year groups move a lot from year to year, so the three-year figure is steadier. It is a rough guide: no progress measure is published for these years.
Chance of a place uses the furthest straight-line distance offered on allocation day, 16 April 2026. Looked-after children, children with an EHC plan naming the school, siblings, catchment and faith criteria often come before distance, and distances change every year. Schools that set their own admission rules (many church and academy schools) publish them on their website. Always read the school's admissions policy and the council's admissions pages before you apply.
Infant schools do not sit Year 6 SATs, so they have no results here. Their Ofsted, class sizes, attendance and admissions figures are shown. Independent schools are not included.

Where the data comes from. Department for Education: GCSE results 2025/26 (provisional, published October 2026), pupil absence (autumn and spring terms 2025/26), suspensions and exclusions 2024/25, the January 2026 school census, special educational needs 2026, the November 2025 school workforce census, applications and offers for September 2026, and academy accounts 2024/25. Ofsted: inspection outcomes as at 30 September 2026. Gloucestershire County Council: secondary allocation summary for September 2026 entry. All are published under the Open Government Licence.
GCSEs compared with similar schools compares each school's Attainment 8 with what schools with a similar share of disadvantaged pupils score across England (3,126 non-selective schools). It is a rough guide: this year there is no Progress 8, which would allow for pupils' primary school results. It is not shown for grammar schools, whose intake is selected by test.
Chance of a place uses last year's furthest straight-line distance offered after the March 2026 allocations. Distances change every year, and catchment areas, siblings, looked-after children and faith criteria can come first. Always check the school's admissions policy and the council's admissions pages before you apply.
Small numbers. Some groups and subjects have few pupils, so a handful of results can move a figure a long way. Figures are provisional and can change. Independent schools are not included.
How places work
You don't apply in the normal way. A place at a special educational needs (SEN) school comes through an EHC plan (education, health and care plan): a legal plan agreed with the council. The council names the school in the plan after talking with you and the school.
EHC plans: Gloucestershire's Local Offer ›Tap a dot to open the school. If you have added a postcode or town, it shows as a white dot.
Mainstream schools with extra support
Some ordinary schools have a special unit or resourced provision. You apply to these in the normal way. Use the Special needs unit filter in the Primary or Secondary list.
Needs are as recorded on the government's register of schools (Get Information about Schools, Department for Education).
